        A story museum of our Project 3, which will be installed within Dewan Orang Ramai of Sungai Buloh will act as the narrative of the life story of leprosy patients over 100 years.

        With my concept of The Journey of Leprosy Patient, I begin with pain, followed by isolation, then lose of hope, and lastly gain of hope of leprosy patient. These is the life experience of leprosy patient that need to be experianced temporary by the visitors of story museum, thus a pathway of pain, isolation, lose hope and gain hope is created.

        With the architectural style of 1970, which has a lot of small repetitive cubic opening and also repetitive pattern openings on the walls that allow the light to come into the hall during day time. This concrete building makes the interior of the hall looks darker, and only looks a bit brighter when the light comes in through the openings. Thus, an inspiration from the overall building is light and dark.

         For pain, a non-continues concrete wall along side the pathway is installed. Concrete is being used because it is able to show the quiet, cold, insecurity and lonely feeling of leprosy patients strongly. When the light from the neighbouring rooms passed through the non-continues wall, slices of light can be seen. As the visitor walk along the path, he can feel the slices of light passing through the walls on both side of him, thus can feel the pain of leprosy patient in his heart.

       Next, isolation is being shown by the extended concrete walls which are protruding from opposite walls. These extended concrete walls act as barrier of life, and as the visitor walk through the path, they will experiance the barrier that attempt to isolate them and made their life hard. As a result, this create an uneasy feeling when walking through it.

        Lose of hope is the next point of this story museum. Lose of hope can be shown by a short pathway with a total darkness. Thus, when the visitor walked through this part of the pathway, he can see nothing, as a result make him feel lose in space temporary.

          As the visitor walk on, he can feel that he is approaching the light, as he can slowly sees his path in front of him. Then, comes to gain of hope, when the visitor enter a space with a skylight passing through the opened ceiling. He also sees the hope again when he entered another space with the light coming in through the huge side opening.

        The overall pathway reminds the visitors that if they lose hope in life, continue to move on, because they will be able to see the hope again in front of them.

Waldorf school

Jalan Tarun,Broga

Design final project for semester 5 is design a waldorf school for kindergarten and elementary. Our project 3 was divided by 3 stages.

First stage was doing site analysis and site concepts to study the site and relationship between architecture and site.

After research and understanding the site, the strong relationship in site that was i found it was water and flora. This relationship was help each other, without each other, will affect each other in bad and negative state.

Application this theory in relationship in architecture, water representative space, root representative architect, flora representative human. A space without architecture to design it, just a space and cannot attract person to come; an architecture without person, why need to design a space.  They were link together, if without each other, the result will totally difference.

Root will attract by water, so root will wanted going around the pond to got more water to support flora. Then the flora will depend how many nutrients that root give to change.

Stage 2 was literature review towards senses and perception, wanted us to identify the underlying concepts in the literature related to building design aspects.

Space = canteen, landscape.

B = Process

Mean  a space for learn.

Space = cooking classroom, workshop , classroom

C = Storage

Mean  a space for create a memory

Space = Library, Natural park

Design process

What had inspired my Design Project?

During our semester 4 design, we are require to design a headquarter with a maximum built up area 2000sqm. And I had chosen Mercedes Benz as my client. First thing to do, I study about the history of Mercedes Benz.

My Design aim to allow customers to experience the brand in a special way. I wanted to create a fascinating brand environment that does not only display company’s product and philosophy, but also promotes the dialogue with customers and potential buyers. So brand gallery become the most important space in my design which meant to create opportunities for exhibition of brand - related topics such as motor sports, brand heritage, safety, innovation, technology and design, which are meant to attract new customer groups.

Mercedes Benz is a well known brand name company that originated in German and it’s specialized in producing automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks and is a division of its parent company, Daimler AG. Mercedes as a brand is equivalent with quality and elegance, and also it consider as one of the oldest automotive brand still existence until today.

Design Development Sketches

At the early stage of design, I started with some of the massing study. I tried to sketch plenty of design but yet still come out with a squarely design which I don’t satisfied at all. I don’t want to create the same typical showroom & gallery design which doesn’t suit the ingenuity to outperform expectation of Mercedes benz.

During the design progress, I been inspired by the Mercedes Benz Museum. The Museum’s sophisticated geometry synthesizes structural and programmatic organizations resulting in a new landmark building celebrating a legendary car. The geometric model employed is based on the trefoil organization which the idea came from the star logo. The organic form show the elegance of Mercedes benz design.

Typical car showroom

Museum Mercedes Benz in Stuttgart, Germany

From the value of Mercedes Benz which is tradition, innovation, quality and safety, I come out with a new idea. The architecture should be:

Simple and organic form - Create a bridge to the future but at the same time may not abandon their origin.

Metal cladding, steel frame and glass exterior – Bring out the advance technology of Mercedes benz

Sustainable design & futuristic – which is always a key element of company growth.

I continue using the simple form with light grey aluminums cladding which are designed with the same recognizable components but in a spatially distinctive way. Curved walls with smooth angle were added into the simple form to express the elegance of Mercedes benz design. Exterior cover by sturdy dark steel frame and large piece of glass represent the detail and pioneer technology of every Mercedes Benz product. Forms and volumes were inspired by the three-pointed star of their logo, a symbol that effortlessly conjures up associations of unmatched quality, driving performance, and technical perfection around the world.

The double-height gallery show room provides a complex brand space that unites vehicle presentations, exhibits and 3D material. The facade offers a showcase of maximum transparency, with vehicle presentations visible. Graphical elements and display cabinets as well as furniture elements are integrated into the wall. Throughout the showroom, the wall sets the atmosphere and also connects the themed zones. It transforms the space into a walk-through stage set where customers discover exhibits and interactive stations outlining the brand themes of safety, comfort, design, quality and sustainability. The use of white marble for the flooring and natural wood for furniture completes the high quality appearance of the showroom, reflecting the values and standard of manufacturing of the Mercedes-Benz brand.

Waldorf Education School

This my semester 5 design project, waldorf education school. At the begining of the semester we have learn about senses. And how senses affect learning. how to design a school with senses apply on it. When doing the design senses really help us think about how the user feel.

Idea & Concept

Embrace Nature, Emotion, and Feelings

With the advantages of the natural surroundding on site. Given a chnaces to design the building built with the nature. Blend into the nature. Waldorf are about learning from the environments, insteadof trying to maintain the original percentages of green area. Design more green into bulding. Then emotion and feeling applied into the design it can enhance the quality of learning. Emotion is something that can cause a reaction, which exertion such power to moveit become a motion. For the studetns move in between the building and site surroundding.

Math Jungle

Structure that children can play around, at the same time learning mathematic. This structure design with the waldorf senses. Sense of touch, sense of thought, sense of life. When kids playing around the structure they learn mathematic from the wall or floor of the structure. This structure is free to play any games, that exist or not, by using kids creativity and imagination to their own games.

The Inspiration

Architecture is about learning new things for students. In semester 5, I plan to do something difference something i never did before from my previous semester. So I plan to design something like built with green and blend with nature. I was refering to seksan design, he has inspired me that green can be so beautiful.

reducing the environmental burden of its business activities, products and services. And they are engages as a part of CSR (corporate social responsibility) activitely to effectively using energy and natural resources, and conduct activities to help the regional environment  under the yamaha group under the yamaha group enviromental policy.

YAMAHA ENVIRONMENT

design objectives

my work

introduction

Basically, this design is propose to YAMAHA CSR program as office training centre which located at bandar baru bangi in the district of hulu langat, selangor. The site itself is greenary and small area of the abandon construction site. It's also surrounded by the vechicle roads and the moonsoon drains which was polluted. Besides this, the site context surrounded by the residential land and the commercial land(located at northern site area). It's a potential site and good opportunity to built/ create new environment/image in this site.

site inspiration

Site inspiration is one of the important to incorporate into our design. It's can give us to sense the architecture environment such like the vechicle traffic sound, green movement, shadow angle cover by nature, the smell of the entrance. ..and etc. And the environment inspiration from the connectivity between the nature and the machine/solid objects.

Environment burden observed at this site and there are energy conservation, natural resources and the waste reduction. It's also relate part of the CSR program issues from the YAMAHA coorperate itself. From this, I have done the abstract model where the concept in connection of the environments (refer image below). It's to express the environment feeling and the connectivity from the atmosphere.

During the building design development, it's might taking several test with few sketches drawings for the space, functionality, form which all must relate back to the ideas as proposed. Environment burden is the key word as concept, it's connected energy conservation, natural resources and the waste reduction such like a network connection which coorperate into my design at building skin, building structure, building form, building shelter, building space and the building hierachy (refer image below). And the building materials choose in concrete and design in open structure to representating the power of the environment connection and the local materials use.
