What I have learn so far in this class are a lot. From the first project until the last project I got inspired a lot from all the classes that I have attend. Most of it let me rethink about architecture and what architecture really do. Architecture not only design buildings, architect should be innovation. Bring creative and imagination into real life, changing the world into a better place. From the first class Space to place, let me rethink about the space and what is place really for. From the movies, we have watches reverent, and ola-bola. We study the movies and understand how to plot twist. How the movies catch the audience emotion and feeling. Relationship between movie and architecture are very close, maybe the movies was inspired by architect or architect inspired by the movies.

And these class make us talk more, giving our opinion. These class is good for us to understand what we really learn and use it on life. And understand how much that we have learn, and we lack of. It really makes me nervous and start do research on the class. And I realize I still lack of knowledge for architect and others design fields. These makes me want to know more about the movies, fashion, politic and more.

What really inspired me was the first class space to place, place and space is the word that we always use but we do not really understand the definition of it. In every design project we used these 2 words, this space, that place la. Space is for place that just a piece of land, and place is difference it bring all the memories. Architecture is the designer that change space to place.

Architecture not only about architecture only, it is about our life, surrounding, feeling, emotion and everything in the world. Everything can relate to architecture, and architecture can relate back to others.

What have you learnt this semester (in theories) has changed your perspective?

Throughout the semester in theory class, despite from the knowledge about architecture I have gained in class, a few things that broaden my perspective point of view also learnt.

One of them is we must love ourselves. Learning to love ourselves is important because we must love ourselves first in order for others to love us. Thus, we must take care of ourselves, respect ourselves and protect ourselves. Beside that, we must love ourselves by puting ourselves first before study by always staying healthy. Having balanced diet everyday and never skip meals are important to make sure we are healthy. With a healthy body enable us to carry out our daily routine regularly and productively, thus boost up our performance.

Besides, we also must work hard after having a plan. This is because a plan without work is building a castle in the air. In order to make sure the schedule that we plan work out on time, a proper time planning and time management during carry out the task is important. An urgent task must be placed first before the less urgent one. Apart from that, the task that we accept must be based on priority, that means we can reject the less priority one if the overall task load is heavy. Thus, with a proper planning, under the right amount of time, carry out the right task enable us to carry out tasks efficiently as planned.

Apart from that, keep learning is important too. By keep learning not only can broaden our knowledge, but also our perspective point of view. This is because knowledge is the light of life. With knowledge on our hand, there are unlimited places we can go, and unlimited things we can settle when we are in trouble, thus protecting us from any circumstances in life.

The last one is we must focus on both the bigger picture and the details of things. When doing a project, a bigger picture of view is important in order for us to have the overall frame of planning in mind, as this can enhance the efficiency of project and cut down the time consumed for planning. Then, as we work on the project, we must slowly proceed to the details. This is because focusing on the details of the project is the main reason for the project to work well. Focusing on the details also enable us to realise the small things that we lack and repair it before focusing on the overall project again.

Thus, these are the new perspective point of views for me, that I have learnt in theory class.

SENSE of architecture

one of the lecture class "expressionalism", this was given me to study deep more emotional of the artist work and the building design itself. Expression of movie films is a good study for us, to know the effects of the combination architecture and the story film. Comprehend the audience and viewers experience of the knowledge and perceptions of the futuristics living life style. It's also knowing that the architecture movement and appriciation during the first decades of the 20th century for the building design, architecture model, architecture need, architecture materials....etc. One of my favourite experience movie is the The Relevant and Ola Bola is supporting movie in my country.

Like one of my blog title written " What you wish you can learn in architecture school? ". It's about improvement in our architecture working space and enviornments. The good thinkings is understand materials and the space we needs. Quality of the final products and quantity of the work load from the assignments needs. Ideas sharing work as a team importants in our future. And it's might need new technology tools to research more and distinct design results for our architecture products.

Taste is the one of the 5 sense architecture study in D7 SENTUL EAST, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA. Senses of the building is importants and it's to give a good building perceptions from the viewer and they can experience the quality of the space. Sense is link to the nature surround the building design itself and might create a new architecture environment at the site. Materials selections is the one important which influences to taste our building design.

Inspirations always be respect in the architecture works. It's design to responding and connecting to the natural atmosphere/ surrounding environment such like the movement of trees, position of trees, urban human connectivity, sound from the nature, ....and etc. It's like a dress code for the building itself and it's give a respond to the viewer from the nature and the environment effects to make people comfort in their living style activities. Site materials is the one of the importants design materials considerations and connection from the site context/environments. For example, wood is the natural materials and it's can make people to feel comfort and cooling down the atmosphere activity. Besides this, the style of the skin in environment also part of the inspiration design works, such like at urban city environments. It's created different of design style and use new technology architecture tools to suit this generation world and to built new environment of the city. This might affected my previous design project semester 04 "IN2015_Yamaha Office Centre" which posted in my blog under "design inspiration".

INNOVATIONS ideas

innovations is about ideas and creativity of the human imagination which means breathtaking architecture and brave, bold designs through new and exciting experiences and events. During in our lecture class "Innovations in design", It's given the idea thinking which out of our architecture boundary which is not just design a building, is create somethings to make people comfort or to fill people needs. In architecture history timeline, we're gone through the transformation of the architecture with the technology development tools. And it's still function and presence in architecture field now and it's compulsory have to coordinate the urban sustainability in our building design.

This are the five important theories which I learnt in architecture environments. It's good to understand the artist/architects design philosophy and their design developments. Movie film is a good assignment work to us for understanding the process of making and the expression of the story. Similar like designing a building which have their own emotion, environment respond and considerating the atmosphere needs. Besides this, We also have to attending PAM lecture talk at Publika, Kuala lumpur which is good to listen the young architects talk about their development works and philosophy. This encourage us to move forward/ create a new architecture generation because the architecture environment is need us and change it better to make people comfort for their living style.

What have you learnt this semester (in theories) that has changed your perspective.

I recall back what had I learned throughout the whole semester of theories class. Every time we finished one topic, we are require to write a blog. At the beginning, I always complain to my friend said that writing these blog or attending the class was wasting time. I dont like writing. It doesn’t improve my architecture knowledge at all. Even though I dislike about this subject at the beginning, yet I still finish all my assignment with effort.

Through those topic, I slowly found that i was totally wrong. It really help me on design thinking. During one of the topic, I had written an article which talk about Frank Lloyd Wright influenced me in design thought. I picked this architect because he could always create the harmony between the building and its environment. I research about Wright’s design thought before I started to write my article. In the article, I try to explain my design progress compare to Wright’s design thought. Throughout the research, I found out that I could do better in my design presentation by using good architect design thought as my reference. This subject had inspired me on my design think. Previously, i am a straight forward person. I think about issue then I provide solution in each of my design. I don’t like reading, every time I do my research for my design idea, I only look for nice image and beautiful form building. But now I realize, to become a good designer, design thought and presentation skill is very important. Designer not only solving the problem, but also giving the ‘soul’ to the building. The ‘soul’ come from the designer though and how they present their design development. Even you are good in designing, but if you can’t present the design progress well, the building wouldn’t be interesting.

For a Chinese school student, is hard for me to write 500 word article after every class. This subject force me to reading and understanding the deliverance of all the article. During those reading, it really inspire me on my design thinking and improve my communication skill. Appreciate our lecturer – Miss Sue which always allow us to express our opinion. All the topic such as old and new architecture, design inspiration, design with senses had new inspiration to me, improve the way I think.

What have you learnt this semester (in theories) that has changed your perspective.

A blink of eyes, and now this is the last blog I am going to write. Time flies.

Actually when I know I will take Theories of Architecture at this semester, I so worried I can't cope with it. Because this subject needs to answer the teacher's questions and express your ideas or views let the teacher understand. But I very poor in English, whether in grammar or speaking. Every time we finished one topic, we are require to write a blog, the blog need write 500 words articles. It is very hard for me to write 500words articles. I don't how start to come up with a compelling title and introduction, though I already have points in my brain. I also don't how to analyse it. First write articles use a lot time to write it, and always complain to my friend said that theory class was wasting my time.

But so far, I found I was wrong. It was improve my writing skills and speaking skills, make me more courage to express my opinion, and faster finish my articles. In order to write a better article, I also read a lot of other people's articles. More researching, you can more understanding what you wanted to write. The more widely read I am, the more chances I have to generate new, creative ideas or come up with interesting angles for each topic I write about. In addition, each class has a different topic, have a new perspective for architecture, there are different angles to better understand it.

Example, the PAM talks that we have attended have also changed my perspective especially “The Big Shuffle” by Marteen Gielen which is mainly focus on material flows in industry and construction, particularly in relation to resources, waste, use and reuse. Every materials should be appreciated even if it is old. Flash back to the classes about the old and new architecture, the evolution of architecture in history to present architecture gave me knowledge about the approach of architecture in different era.

Other than that, the chapter of community architecture also changed my perspective that architecture can changed the life of a society. It makes me realize that we should all emphasize the importance of user involvement in design, construction and management of the environment when it comes to architecture.

More to learn, more to explore, more to come. Even we have to write so many blog for every class and talks. But it is really useful for us in our architecture study especially in design.
